Generally speaking, the Vie Scolaire is the office which handles tardies, absences, and sanctions. The Vie Scolaire works closely with the student body and its project allows students and staff to work together more effectively.
At CiMF, we get to know our students. Our school is structured so as to adapt to the age and needs of the student population. The faculty and staff place much importance on one-to-one interactions. Students are taught to enjoy and safeguard their rights while assuming their responsibilities.
We provide each student with an on-going and comprehensive support system.
Students are assigned a head teacher and a grade-level counselor. School guidelines, procedures for computer use, and extra-curricular activities are also part of our student support system.
Preschool Level
Each student is assigned to a teacher who works with the child throughout the day. Students are also supervised by other staff members during mealtimes, recess, after-school daycare, and often within the classroom.
Children are welcomed as early as 8:00 a.m. and may enroll in after-school daycare from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Primary School
Primary school is designed to meet the needs and interests of youngsters.
Each child is assigned to a teacher who becomes the school’s direct link with the child. The teacher works to establish a high level of trust with not only the child but also with the parents.
The child’s daily planner serves also as a means of communication between the school and the family. Parents may also make an appointment to meet with their child’s teacher.
At the beginning of the academic year, parents sign that they have read and understood school rules and guidelines.
The child is expected to become more and more autonomous over time. He or she remains, however, in a protected environment.
CiMF participates in a program entitled “Vers le pacifique” which teaches children to resolve conflicts through dialogue and exchange. Themes presented by special speakers are discussed and put into practice in the classroom.
The Parascolaire S.F. team offers a variety of extra-curricular activties such as drawing, theatre, sports, languages, and computer science. Activities are also offered between noon and 2:00 p.m. Children are welcomed at school as early as 8:00 a.m.and after-school daycare is offered from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Secondary Level
The students take their classes at the grand collège which is our main building. We are very much aware that this will be a new environment for them, and it is for this reason that we have put into place special measures in 6ème which will help students to adapt more easily and quickly.
6ème
The student is assigned to a group which is supervised by a head teacher. This teacher plays a special in the child’s education since he or she works closely with the student, with other faculty members, and with sthe child’s parents.
Students also have a grade-level counselor. This person introduces them to the school’s guidelines and rules, checks absences and tardies, and holds a weekly study session. He or she may also work individually with a child if the need arises. A staff member is also assigned to this grade-level and supervises the children during free time.
From 5ème to 3ème
The student is assigned to a group, and has a grade-level counselor and a head teacher. As in 6ème, he or she changes classrooms throughout the day. The student becomes more and more autonomous. The same rules and guidelines learned in 6ème are followed and faculty members continue to work closely with parents in the child’s best interest.
High School Level (Collégial)
The student has now acquired his or her autonomy. The Collège international Marie de France encourages students to become more and more independent given that they are slowly working towards their unversity studies.
There remains a close working relationship between students and faculty members at this level. Teachers give their students more and more room to express their own personalities and encourage dialogue in the classroom. Students are also expected to become increasingly responsible for themselves.
Students are able to find answers to their many questions and deepen their relationships with teachers through school outings, trips, and research projects.
In addition to the head and grade-level counselors, secondary- and collegiate-level students may consult with a social worker, a guidance counselor, and a school psychologist if they need help or advice.

Information and Academic & Professional Orientation Services at CIMF
Mrs. Michelle Bourdages is available to meet with students to discuss their academic and/or professional orientation.
The personal orientation project (known as a PIO in French) is a written document which traces the student’s vocational interests from 6ème (Secondary 1) all the way to Terminale (second year of Cégep). Workshops are offered each year in order for students to understand themselves better and to become aware of the various professions and areas of study available to them.
The PIO is a booklet with sheets that are filled out by the student, his or her family, and by faculty members (no grade is given). Each evaluates the student’s skills and abilities in non-academic areas. The objective is to aid and support the student to understand the possibilities that exist. The PIO is the result of personal reflection and is developed with with faculty, staff, and parents.
An academic and professional information center is open Monday-Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m, and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Documents and weblinks are available on ENT at all times.
